Fall 2016 Ready to Wear

The Ralph Lauren Ready to Wear Collection has always been a standby for me. The fabrics are solid, sizing a little roomier for a fuller figure, and colors classic. This year’s fall collection was true to the Ralph Lauren roots:

“The show opened with a passage of neutral looks, and the first models came out wearing billowing high-waisted pants and neatly tailored blazers in shades of beige, a color that has long been a Lauren signature. That monochromatic styling made way for more distinctive themes, starting with the plaid-on-plaid knit tube skirts and fringed capes, and a Navajo-inspired jacket that managed to conjure the outdoorsy spirit of the English countryside and an arid landscape of the American West all at once. One of the most appealing coats in the collection had a cozy, robelike silhouette and was cut from a patchwork of tweeds that could have been swiped straight from Sherlock Holmes’s closet.” Vogue

Dream Suits

I’m looking to update my business wardrobe with a few new suits, and was browsing around. Maybe I browsed too long, or on an empty stomach, because I found myself on sites I mostly can’t afford, or have the girlish figure to even think about them seriously.

It was fun to dream, so here are my picks:

Timeless, Effortless Beauty

I’ve always loved beautiful fashion – especially on everyone else. At nineteen, upon landing in Paris, I was totally enamored by the Parisian’s natural style, ease and flow of their fashionable clothing and elegance of aging beauties. Le sigh!

Yet, I am not gifted in putting together ensembles that show my appreciation for the designers I so love. It is a struggle for me focus and create cohesive outfits that show my love for fashion.

When I was busy building my career, I had a Personal Stylist who knew exactly what colors were perfect for me, and styles that accentuated my body type. I LOVED giving her a call with a request for help in dressing me for events, then being met with several racks of outfits she selected of which ALL looked fabulous! I miss her!

Then my mom years arrived, and I hung up my dresses, suits and heels. Casual comfort was the theme for each day, with babies messy eating and running after toddlers the driving force for clothing choices – and how well everything could wash! [Read more…]
