7 Tips to Keep Your Skin Moist in Cold, Dry Weather

The winds are beginning to blow, and heaters are being turned on everywhere you go! Do you struggle with dry, flaking, itchy skin in the winter?

When that unpleasant chill hits the air, it’s time to get tips on how to keep your skin hydrated in the wintertime. Dryness can be uncomfortable, and it’s important to defend yourself against the elements in order to maintain smoothness and suppleness all season long. Keeping skin beautiful and hydrated in colder weather calls for both internal and external care.

Dry skin care tips for Morning

  • Wash your face with lukewarm water—not too hot and not too cold— to wake yourself up without drying the skin or constricting your pores.

Dry skin care tips for Day

  • Your skin will dry out as it’s exposed to the elements throughout the day. That’s why it’s important to re-apply moisturizer whenever you notice your skin becoming dry. Dry skin care tips for Night

Skin Fat Cells Protect Us from Infections

That little bit of pudge, your “baby face,” or having pinch-able cheeks may keep your skin healthier, it seems. Researchers have found that “fat cells below the skin help protect us from bacteria.” In the January 2nd, 2015 issue of Science, the results of a study conducted by scientists at UC San Diego School of Medicine was published showing immune factors within the fat cells beneath our skin.

Eating Raw Foods for Beautiful Skin

Have you seen before and after photos of someone who has increased their water intake to 4 liters a day? She does look much more hydrated and her skin does show a more youthful appearance I must admit. When I saw the photos I wondered what the difference is to our skin when we switch to more raw foods to consume the highest levels of natural vitamins and minerals. Would it show a difference like the water did? Why not give it a try.

So I did, and still do. I also decided to go as sugar free as possible, too. Food is much tastier I will say, and I crave fruits and veggies now. When I do eat my old favorite-must-have-every-day chocolate, or a sweet, it gives me a headache. Even gluten free treats. Sigh. So no more of those.

My post “Which Hidden Food Allergies Might be Making You Gain Weight?” identifies food with gluten, dairy, corn, chocolate, tomatoes, eggs, soy, peanuts, beef, processed or cured meats, seafood, citrus, yeast, bell peppers, eggplant, potatoes, sugar, and caffeine as common culprits.
