Tips for Vibrant Summer Skin by Candy Dye

I highly recommend exfoliating consistently in the summer to nourish your skin, which just as important as exfoliating to keep your skin hydrated in winter. Exfoliating in the summer helps to prevent dry, damaged skin due to rising heat temps and exposure to sun. [Read more…]

How to Fight the 4 Core Influences of Aging

What are the four core influences of aging, how do they affect what we experience physically, and what we see in the mirror as we grow older?

Why does an Internal + External approach to the battle against the visible signs of aging work the best?

Consumers are increasingly seeking “anti-aging” cosmetic products that treat the visible signs of natural and environmental aging, such as wrinkles, lines, sagging, hyperpigmentation and age spots.  The problem is, products that only focus on treating the signs of aging are not proactive or preventative.  This is what sets Apriori Beauty™ apart from the rest – Apriori Beauty sought to take an innovative approach to targeting the causes of aging, not just the symptoms by introducing the Cellular Age Advantage™, a proactive, internal + external approach that utilizes the Nutrient Reservoir™ to address the core causes of cellular aging! Why Should You Exfoliate?

giant dust bunnies? by mbkeppDid you know that “dust bunnies”, those wisps of dust found under beds and chairs, are made up of dead skin cells? Put that in your “things that I really didn’t need to know” file, right?  The reason I mention this, is that we are constantly shedding skin cells – all over the place, all the time!  As we get older, they don’t come off quite as easily or as quickly.  I heard someone once say “that’s why old people smell and have a grayish hue to their skin”.  While I’m not so sure about that, I do know that I don’t want anything dead stuck on me ever!!

The best way I know to get rid of the dead skin cells on the face and body is by using an exfoliant. [Read more…]

AGE SPOTS: What They Are and How to Remove Them

AGE SPOTS are flat, gray, brown or black colored spots on the back of your hands, tops of your arms, shoulders, and your face. As we age, they start to show up increasingly.  Here’s how they came about and some options of how to get rid of them!

They just suddenly showed up one day, but not really.  They are the result of years in the sun, and, according to The Mayo Clinic, usually present around the age of forty, although they can present in younger people.

Age spots can look cancerous, but they are not – the worst part is how they look and that they are there to begin with!  You can bleach or lighten them or have them removed, but the best thing is to prevent them in the first place by using sunscreen and avoiding overexposure to the sun.

How do age spots form?

“Ultraviolet (UV) light accelerates the production of melanin. Melanin is the dark pigment in the epidermis that gives your skin its normal color. The extra melanin — produced to protect the deeper layers of your skin — creates the darker color of a tan. Age spots develop when the extra melanin becomes “clumped” or is produced in higher concentrations than normal.

Most often, it takes years of sun exposure for these dark spots to occur — they typically develop very slowly over time. Using commercial tanning lamps and tanning beds can eventually result in the same changes.”   http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/age-spots/DS00912

Treatment Options:

FIRST!  Go to your dermatologist and GET THEM CHECKED!  Your doctor will tell you what the spots are, and if they need additional medical tests or treatments, or if you are clear to use something to lighten or remove them.

If you get the “All Clear”, some options you have are:

~ Bleaching Creams that lighten the spots over time

~ Laser Therapy which kill the cells that make the dark spots without harming the skin

~ Freezing (cryotherapy) which also destroys the dark spots but can leave a scar

~ Dermabrasion which uses rotating brushes to remove the top layers of skin and can leave a scab

~ Chemical Peels which use strong acids to chemically burn off the top layers of skin

THERE IS ANOTHER WAY to Remove Age Spots, that the Mayo Clinic doesn’t know about yet!

Derma Firm Illuminator Treatment System

The Apriori Beauty DERMA FIRM ILLUMINATOR and CELLOXYLIN MD 20Ex ACID PEEL!

I’ve talked all about it in my post “The Ultimate 10 Minute Face Lift”,  and have since had the opportunity to try it out on my own age spots.  I am  excited to report that the age spots I have been targeting are lightening.  Painless, no scarring, no scab, no redness – they’re just falling off with the Derma Firm Illuinator.

The Celloxylin MD 20Ex Acid Peel has Glycolic, Lactic and Salicylic Acids, together with N-Acetyl Glocosamine, a newly discovered skin care ingredient that has been shown to treat hyperpigmentation. I use this twice a week – it is very effective!

So, the good news is that if you are seeing those nasty Age Spots on your hands or arms, you have choices.  You can bleach, burn, laser, peel or scrub them off, OR you can use the Derma Firm Illuminator, and Acid Peel to painlessly help them to fall off!  Nice new healthy skin is showing up underneath, too!
