Off and on, I’ve had areas of my eyelash line thinned of lashes, sometimes spots of no eyelashes. I’ve tried eyelash enhancers, and eyelash vitamin serums which have left my eyes dry, and worked sporadically.
Then I had a novel thought. What if I’m not cleansing my eyeliner and mascara enough for my eyelash “pores” to breathe? What if there is makeup residue that is blocking the lashes from receiving the natural nutrients and oils my own body produces?
Here’s what I’ve done to see a marked improvement:
- After washing my face with a natural oil cleanser that is a surface and deep pore cleanser, normal skin pH 5.5, I rinse and take a slightly smaller than pea sized amount of my cleanser and massage directly around my eyelash line, sometimes using my fingernail to lightly “scrub” the area for full makeup debris removal. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
- As often as I can, I go without mascara. Can’t do without eyeliner in public yet, but giving my eyelashes freedom from the weight of mascara seems like it’s a good idea, don’t you think?
The focused cleansing of my eyelash line has done wonders for eyelash growth.
