12 Tips on How to Keep Impressing in Your Job

Business suites for womenThe workplace is changing and we need to make adjustments to stay competitive. One of the greatest influencing factors in the interviewing process is the first impression. After the first few minutes, and once past the first take, your prospective employer will begin to assess how you fit in the company and what you would be like in the position you are seeking.

Think of an interview as an audition. You have built your resume, now you are demonstrating how you are the perfect choice to meet the needs of the organization. If your future employer is impressed, it doesn’t stop with the job offer.

Performance counts. If you want to win the loyalty of your customers, coworkers, boss and other constituents, you need to turn i a consistently strong performance. And if you want to wow them, you need to turn in a remarkable performance.” – Mark Sanborn, The Encore Effect

You need to keep on impressing your colleagues and clients.

You need to bring respect to the organization and honor the position you have been selected for. How you act, speak, and appear are vital.

My tips for your continued success:

  1. Work at increasing your knowledge and improving your performance each day.
  2. Good hygiene. Always.
  3. You are there for business, to do a prescribed job, not to socialize.
  4. Choose your wardrobe to reflect respect for your position and your company. Lean toward conservative styles, proper fit (not too tight or too baggy), no cleavage showing.
  5. Your appearance should not draw attention in general or to any focal point on your body, so as to distract from the job you are responsible for.
  6. Select current styles and colors that accentuate your natural shape and coloring, to bring out your natural beauty.
  7. Smile, smile, smile! Even when talking on the telephone. A smile on your face can bring a smile to your voice and word choice.
  8. Build bridges and do the small, nice things like always saying hello, please and thank you.
  9. Focus on your tasks and how you can improve each day better than the day before.
  10. Don’t even think about checking your personal emails or social media accounts while you are being paid by someone else.
  11. Always do your best each day.
  12. Be someone people love to be around by focusing on others and communicating with encouraging words.

Best wishes for your success!
