Does Your Face Show Your Stress?

Stress shows on your face. It also wreaks havoc within your body if you are stressed for long periods of time. How do you get rid of stress? That’s a question that only you can answer. Stressors come from so many different places,events and circumstances perceived by each of us uniquely. It’s what you do with it, and how you handle it, that can help you protect your skin and health from it’s detrimental effects if you allow it to take over.

 

While at the grocery store this morning, I was concentrating on navigating my way through the shoppers to gather my frowning womangroceries, when I looked up at a woman who looked so worried and stressed. She was focused on the foods on display, and had such a care worn face, it surprised me when I first saw her. Wrinkles abounded, but mostly in the areas that are affected when you frown. The furrows between the eyebrows, pursed lips, scowl, and squinted eyes.

I just wanted to tell her to relax and smile! I smiled at her but she did not return my smile. I wished she could realize what message her facial expression was sending out to the universe of shoppers this morning. I wished I could give her a facial and a 1o minute facelift. Even that could only go so far until she can relax from the inside and exude a more relaxed look on her face that came from being relaxed on the inside.

So, my message today is to stop throughout the day and do a little stress check on yourself. If you’re feeling it, and seeing it, then take a breath, relax a little, and stop a moment to enjoy the beauty all around you. Every day is a new day, a new chance, a new opportunity. Relax, enjoy each day for what it is and Smile! Your face will thank you f or it and so will those who see you!
