Want to Cross the Finish Line? Ready to Achieve Your Goals?

You see someone you haven’t seen in a while, and WHOA! – they have lost a ton of weight and look great! How did they do it? You ask and they say they changed the way they were eating and worked out.

You run into a former co-worker, and while catching up, find that they are now working in a promoted position in the job of their dreams! How did that happen? What did they do? They say they were in the right place at the right time – but is that really how it works?

Here’s a few tips to help you cross the finish line of your goals and dreams!

Decide What Your Endpoint is and Focus on it Like a Laser Beam!

Simply stated, you have to know where you are headed. What are you aiming for? What is it that you want to accomplish? Is there something you’ve always wanted to do with your life? Is there something you want to change about your appearance or character? Do you feel there is something you are passionate about that has always been pushed aside, and now you want to go for it?

Once you Decide, write it down, put it somewhere where you can see it everyday, several times a day. This is where you are going!

Determine How You are Going to Get There – Make a Plan

You must develop a method or process that with unfailing implementation, will lead you to your goal. This is the part of the process where you practice, and do the “little” things that no one sees or thinks is anything special, but you know it is part of the day by day accomplishments that lead to your goal.

If you are going to lose weight and get in shape, this is where you decide on the way you will eat differently and what your exercise plan is for you.  If you are an athlete, this is where you develop your workout plans for every day of the week, decide your nutrition and supplement program, and how and when you will practice your sport for each performance. If you are looking for a career promotion, this is where you work on developing new skills and gaining greater knowledge that will provide you the competence needed for the next career step.

Develop Discipline in Being Consistent to Follow Your Plan Everyday

This is where your focus and determination come into play. Your mental motivation that says to your body get up and go workout, or make that choice for healthy meals, or tells your body to walk out of the kitchen after dinner, or practice your sport every day, or take that class, or earn that certificate.

You have the motivation from within to keep moving toward your goals every day. You know what can sidetrack you or distract you, and can catch yourself quickly to get back on track. It’s the doing of the day by day by day process that will lead to the performance and accomplishment of your overall goal.

Good intentions and enthusiasm will only take you so far… it’s hard work, discipline when no one is watching that will get you across the finish line. Will you give it all you’ve got to make it happen? I hope so!

Thanks for stopping by!

I’d love to hear what you think or if you have done something to accomplish your goals!

Hi I love this article. I learned some of these techniques in a college course I had taken previously. I am a procrastinator and I am still trying to learn to discipline myself to accomplish my goals. I hate that I put things off so much I could be so much more successful right now. I an 42 and should have a bachelors degree by now. I did let other’s influence me in the past but I still have a few obstacles that I need to overcome. But anyways thanks for the inspiration this article is so true for me. I want to improve a few things in my life definitely and I want anything or “anyone” stand in my way. Thanks
